Being a first-generation Latina has shaped the way I see opportunities, challenges, and leadership. Growing up, I learned the importance of resilience, hard work, and staying connected to my roots. My family’s experiences taught me to value every step forward and to understand the importance of representing my community with pride. These lessons influence how I carry myself in school, work, and professional environments.

My background has helped me develop a leadership style grounded in empathy and cultural awareness. I understand how important it is for people to feel supported and heard, especially when navigating unfamiliar environments. This helps me connect with others, encourage collaboration, and create a positive environment whether I’m working with customers, classmates, or younger students I mentor. I lead with patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.

These qualities translate naturally into accounting and business settings. Being bilingual and culturally aware allows me to communicate more clearly and build trust with diverse clients and coworkers. In a field where accuracy, ethics, and communication matter deeply, my lived experiences strengthen my ability to explain information in ways people understand and feel confident about. Leadership in accounting isn’t only about knowledge — it’s also about empathy, integrity, and cultural understanding.

As I work toward becoming a CPA, I plan to continue leading with purpose and authenticity. I hope to create opportunities for others, especially young women and first-generation students who may not always see themselves represented in the financial world. My leadership will always be rooted in my identity — blending professionalism with compassion, cultural pride, and a strong commitment to growth.
